The Gympie Training Depot Ablution Works project for the Department of Defence involved the design and construction of a new ablution facility, along with minor works to re-purpose the existing ablution facility. During these works the Gympie Depot remained fully operational.
The new ablution facility was a demountable, modular construction building with external cosmetic elements sympathetic with the heritage buildings on site. An experienced and qualified Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) consultant performed a clearance survey, provided spatial data, a UXO clearance certificate, and relevant reports to the National Unexploded Ordnance Program before project works could commence.
Many interesting historical artifacts were recovered within the grounds of the Depot during construction works.
