Ensuring the University of Queensland’s facilities are maintained at their best, iQ Construct is proud to announce the successful completion of the 2-Stage Design & Construct project to upgrade the Otto Hirschfeld Building (Building 81), one of the University’s key facility located on the St Lucia campus.
The scope of work involved the demolition of the existing acoustic louvered plant room enclosure and the construction of a new plant room, featuring structural steel, a brickwork façade, and insulated panel roofing. Enhancements included new landscaping with irrigation systems, fresh plants, low-level rock walls, as well as upgraded civil drainage with new pipework and stormwater pits. Inside, we undertook a mechanical AHU changeover, made ductwork modifications, and installed new fan coil units. We also added a modern entry vestibule with an automatic sliding door and new thermally insulated windows, while modifying the sunshades above the newly constructed plant room.
This achievement highlights iQ Construct’s commitment to excellence in delivering high-quality, on-time, cost-efficient and minimally disruptive construction solutions for education institutions.
