This project for the Department of Defence required the remediation of multiple areas of the RAAF Amberley Gymnasium. Works included investigation into, and replacement of the parquetry floor to the multipurpose gymnasium and squash court due to critical damage from water ingress.
Works also included removing existing 25m long, 3m wide sky-light roof and replacing with new trafficable glass roof using multiple crane lifts. This required the provision of temporary weather protection in the form of large tarpaulins for an extended period of time between demolition, fabrication and installation of the structural steel component of the roof. Other works included preventative measures to ablutions, and mitigation to window breakages. Works were carried out in stages to ensure the gymnasium remained operational and accessible 24/7.
